The Shift

February 7, 2020

Amidst a rapidly, unpredictably changing climate and deteriorating society, Celsey and Michael take refuge together during the global epidemic referred to as The Shift. Events blurring and days blending, the two begin to question everything they thought they knew. Could The Shift be a new beginning, or their worst nightmare? They need answers quickly, because they begin to realize that in this changing world, time is against them.

“The Shift isn’t just a dystopian novel; it’s the mirror we’ve all been avoiding since the world collectively lost its mind.”

The Shift reads like a fever dream that got too real too fast. It isn’t just a dystopian novel; it’s the mirror we’ve all been avoiding since the world collectively lost its mind.

Celsey and Michael hiding out while the planet turns itself inside out? That’s not fiction, that’s emotional archaeology. C.M. Davila didn’t just build a world; she built the inside of a nightmare wrapped in self-discovery and duct tape. The way events blur, days blend, and reality dissolves mirrors exactly how time has felt for the past few years. She really called us out there.

And the tone? Atmospheric, introspective, unnerving. Davila somehow makes the apocalypse sound poetic. The Shift isn’t explosions and lasers; it’s the quiet panic of two people trying to remember what “normal” even means. That’s the real horror. That’s humanity.

Her author bio says teacher, mom, dreamer, and apparently part-time prophet. She claims reading her books is like diving into her mind… and honestly, we might need a life jacket for that. The fact that her stories come from vivid dreams explains everything, and this is meant as the highest compliment. Most people wake up from strange dreams and roll over. She wakes up and builds worlds.
